I have a bit of a thing about Boston. It's a brilliant place. I went there in the late summer of 2006 as part of my post-graduation round the world trip. I stayed in the HI hostel and had a generally excellent time. It was pouring with rain on my first day there but I braved the weather and went on a guided bus tour around the city. What hit me straight away about the city was that it had a real buzz about it and yet at the same time felt really laid back and homely. The native Bostonians were extremely friendly and I just loved every minute of my time there. I went on a pub crawl with some of my fellow hostellers on the first night and ended up staying out with a few people including 2 nice chaps called Simon and Justin. I seem to remember there being a Californian dude with us too, although I can't recall his name. On the way 'home' we were accosted by a black gentleman who decided to walk with us and sing us a few songs, including an awesome rendition of 'Dock of the bay'. The evening was continued back at the hostel, where we ate a large quantity of microwave popcorn.

The second night in Boston was spent pub crawling again, and the evening ended with some rather drunken antics involving model cows and pizza (see pic for this dot as an example) There was a 'cow parade' going on in Boston at the time which meant that there were various model cows all over the city. Our favourite was one with bears on it's back, so we all took it turns to climb up and have our photos taken, then bought a takeaway pizza and proceeded to 'feed' it to the bears. The 'Boston cow 5' were me, Simon, Justin, Susanna and Rob. I had a great time and I would love to go back one day.
